I Really Can't Take Art Seriously...

This weekend, the National Gallery has free admission, so Katie and I headed over to their nearest museum--Veletržní Palác, just a few tram stops from the dorm.  The museum is basically huge.  There are five floors, and they have a ridiculous number of pieces there.  Because I am me, most of the art pieces I took pictures of to show you either reminded me of something or just made me laugh.  Enjoy.

Outside the musuem

Outdoor art

Inside

Looking down at the ground floor.  There was some sort of kids art class going on; they were all making crazy sculptures.

There were also two guys wandering around the museum in plastic jumpsuits playing the violin and the flute.

Cool colors-very large paintbrush

Is that a Modigliani?  Yes, John Cusack as Nelson Rockefeller in Cradle Will Rock, it is.

Superman's fortress of solitude

This painting reminds me of the motel where Elvis and his band stayed in the movie Girl Happy.  It's a cinematic gem.

Baseball game dot race?

This one is here for genuine art appreciation.  Seriously.

How did they get their hands on the model for my future house?

Mucha!  Mucha!  Mucha!

Framed pieces of refrigerators

Magic carpet

Brings me back to the Minnesota Science Museum

Giant drop of spilled milk

This piece is called "The First Serially Produced Schizophrenia"

Did I tell you the museum was huge?

Yellow Submarine

This spoon has ears.

Another one that I genuinely enjoy.

The anthropologist in me loves that this is essentially an arty version of the footprints at Laetoli.
